I am having a lot of fun blending the new In-Colors. Here is a quick how-to write-up for using the blending technique with the new Orchid Oasis In-Color.

  1. To achieve the coloring on the leaves, use the Light Shaded Spruce first. Then come back in with the Light Parakeet Party.
  2. To achieve the coloring on the petals, start by coloring the whole image in Light Fresh Freesia. Be careful not to go to close to the edge, to prevent bleeding.
  3. Come in with a light hand and use Light Orchid Oasis at the very base of the petals, and wherever you want shading. Follow the shading lines from SU! – and see the video for more details.
  4. Sweep through the middle section with Light Highland Heather. Move in a circular motion. Leave the very tips as just being Fresh Freesia.
  5. Let sit for a moment, then come through one final time with your Color Lifter to blend all of the colors together and to pull off some of the intensity. Be careful, always, to watch for color bleed by not going too close to the edge.

In the video, I hadn’t completed the design yet. But here it is, finished 🙂

Here are a few more I made today. I have so many things I “should” be doing, but it was raining and my puppy was cute. And all I wanted to do was color, and color some more. These were really just “practice” cards. I have ideas in mind for making them better. In all, I am pretty pleased. Not bad for a play day!

The stamps and dies carry forward into the new catalog for all of next year – but the delicate DSP (Designer Series Paper) is retiring this month. And once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Everything you need to know about the Featured Product is right here on this page:

I recently had the opportunity to share about Goals and Goal-Setting with Esther Szabo from Gates Pass Financial Advisers. Esther is one of my favorite people in the world and we had a great time! Here are a few helpful tips about setting goals and being your best self:

  • Self-Awareness through the lens of your Strengths
    • What is your self-talk about your talents and how you show up? Do you know how you naturally think, feel, and behave? Can you harness those talents into meaning and performance?
    • Building Self-Awareness through the lens of your CliftonStrengths will help you develop a deeper understanding of your strongest talents. It will also help you work better with others by focusing on what you do best
  • Knowing your goals, your purpose, and your why
    • What is your relationship with the word goal? With the word purpose?
    • However we frame it, and whatever concept we choose, when we connect with that inner part of ourselves that brings passion and love then it is more intuitive to set and achieve goals.

I offer a number of resources and tools to help you open the door further on the topic of knowing and being your best self, and connecting your heart and your goals to your daily activities.

I’d love to connect with you further.

Helpful Resources:

One way to open the door to goals and to bring your whole self (your heart, your mind, your talents, your physical self, your relationships) is to participate in Lela’s Creative Intentions workshop. You can learn more here.

  • DSP Petal Pink 3 ⅝” x 1” (for die cutting heart strip)
  • Basic White 3 ½” x ¾”  (for die cut heart strip)
  • DSP Sweet Talk for heart dies 1” x 1” (2 different prints – Red speckled and Petal Pink)
  • Red Red for die cut heart 1 ½” x 1 ½”

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cut Basic White Card Base 8 ½” x 5 ½” and score at 4 ¼”.
  2. Using the Gingham Embossing Folder, emboss the Petal Pink DSP layer.
  3. Using Real Red ink, stamp the “Luv U” outline heart onto Petal Pink 1” x 1” square and die cut using the coordinating die from the Sweet Hearts Die set.
  4. Cut a Real Red heart using the largest heart Die from the Sweet Hearts Die set.
  5. Cut a heart from the “red speckled” DSP using the shorter, wider heart.
  6. Stamp “Happy Valentine’s Day using Real Red ink.  I stacked the sentiment.  Stamping “Valentine’s Day” first along the bottom edge of the Basic White 2 ¼” square.  Then clean stamp thoroughly and dry.  Ink just the “Happy” and stamp above the “Valentine’s Day”.  Because this is a clear stamp, it makes it easy to ink just the part of the stamp you want.
  7. Using the die with the 6 connected hearts.  Cut once with Real Red cardstock (saving the outline hearts) and Cut once using the Petal Pink DSP (saving the individual 6 hears).
  8. Using the Basic White 3-½” x ¾” strip.  Center the “6 hearts” die and cut.  You’ll be using the negative on your card.  You can save the other pieces for using on another project.
  9. Adhere the “negative” Basic White hearts to the Real Red matte.  Insert the Real Red Hearts outline, then insert each individual petal pink heart in place.
  10. Attach the Real Red Background to the folded card base.
  11. Attach the Embossed Petal Pink DSP to the Real Red background.
  12. Attach Basic White 2 ¼” square towards the top of the 3” x 2 ⅜” piece.  Tie White Crinkle Seam Binding into a bow towards the lower edge of the Real Red piece.
  13. Adhere the 3 hearts to the stamped Basic White, taping the Read Red and the speckled heart flat.  The stamped heart is popped using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  14. Attach this stamped panel to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  15. Attach the row of hearts flat to the card towards the bottom, centering side to side.
  16. Sprinkle with 3 Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels, decorate the inside & send off to someone you love!
