Follow the Yellow Brick Road – Matchbook Card

You can do so much with a 4″ x 4″ piece of Designer Series paper. This Matchbook Card fold is super fun to make, and it’s quick and easy too. You can dress it up, or dress it down.

BONUS TIP: Pair it with the More Messages die for a simple, impactful set of cards you can make in one sitting.

MEASUREMENTS

• Card Base Secret Sea at 4 ¼” x 11”, score at 4 ¾” and 10”
• Designer Series Paper 4” x 4”
• Basic White 4” x 4”
• Darling Duckling Cardstock Strip cut to ¾” x 4” and embossed with Embossed Brick 3D Embossing Folder
• More Messages Die-Cuts
• Mix and Match Ephemera

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut Cut Secret Sea at 4 ¼” x 11”, score at 4 ¾” and 10”
2. Burnish, and fold into a matchbook shape
3. Adhere the bottom right at the inside crease with tear-n-tape or a well-placed staple. You want the card to operate like a matchbook, with the bottom sealed partially and also with the bottom having enough room for the top flap to fit inside.
4. Cut Designer Series Paper 4” x 4” and adhere to card front.
5. Cut Darling Duckling Cardstock Strip to ¾” x 4” and emboss with Embossed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere to bottom of matchbook strip.
6. Adhere Basic White piece to inside of card.
7. Stamp and roll-out More Messages Die-Cuts. Adhere desired sentiments to card front and card inside.
8. Close the matchbook.
9. Wrap ribbon around bottom of card and tie a nice bow.
10. Remove backing from Mix and Match Ephemera and adhere to front of card.
11. Add two cute little gems

I made this card for a challenge for my upline – the challenge was to use an Embossing Folder. I am just tickled that I was struck with inspiration to use the brick folder …. hence the name “Follow the Yellow Brick Road.”

I was so inspired with this design that I sat for a few hours and just made up different cards with all of my new DSP (Designer Series Paper). It’s easy to create these in a batch mode, and it’s fun to make them all just a little bit unique.
