Family

There are 3 key ingredients to creating a successful scrapbook page:

Have a great theme
Have great photos
Have a great story

I usually start with one of the above ingredients, and then build from there. In this case, the first ingredient was a great photo. The feature photo in the bottom left of this spread caught my eye when both my sister and my niece sent it to me on Mother’s Day.

I had been looking at getting this new Workshop Kit anyway, and when I saw this photo I knew I had to get it. The theme of the kit is Family, including a Mother’s Day title too!

Those were enough building blocks for me to get started. I went through my photo library, and I reached out to family for photos too.

The story comes together all centered around my sister Doris. The photos include Doris’ family – her kiddos, grandkids, her sisters and her mom. (I mean, it’s also my family too but with a different point of view.) Family is everything to Doris – and what an awesome way to capture what she values so much by assembling favorite family photos in one montage.

I am going to gift this to Doris so she can add it to her own scrapbook. I’m still working on the right-hand side of the spread. Stay tuned for that.

As time goes on, I am feeling less of a desire to give material things and more of a desire to give experiences and memories as gifts. Sending scrapbook pages and cards are a perfect way to really let someone know you love them. (And honestly, they are way more affordable too. They take time more than dollars – more precious to the recipient anyway.)

So here we have it. A successful page with a beautiful theme, a sweet story and great photos. The Memories in Bloom Workshop kit really tied everything together easily, affordably, and it was super fun too!
