Double Explosion Card

This card is fun to make, fun to send and SUPER FUN to receive! Bonus: It’s a great design to use with Designer Series Paper that has large, bold, beautiful patterns!

COLORS

• Basic White
• Blueberry Bushel
• Melon Mambo

MEASUREMENTS

• Card Base Basic White Thick 8” x 5 ½”, scored at 2” and 6”, Notice that this is 8”!
• (2) Designer Series Paper Panels 1 ¾” x 5 ¼” for outside panels
• Optional (4) Designer Series Paper Panels 1 ¾” x 5 ¼” for inside panels
• (2) Basic White 4” x 4” squares
  • Score on one diagonal
  • Score on the other diagonal
  • Score straight down the middle in one direction only
• (2) Designer Series Paper 3 ¾” Squares for the Triangles
  • Square 1 : Cut on the diagonal. 
  • Take one large triangle and cut it in half from tip to center of straight edge
  • Take one of those halves and further cut it in half from top to center of straight edge
  • Take next large triangle and cut it in half from tip to center of straight edge
  • Take one of those halves and further cut it in half from top to center of straight edge
  • Square 2: Repeat as above
• Tip: For an easier option, make the explosion squares out of DSP and skip the triangles decoration.
• (2) Die-Cut Blueberry Bushel from ~ 2 ½” Stylish Shapes squares
• (2) Die-Cut Basic White from ~ 2” Stylish Shapes squares
• Basic White Belly Band 10” x 1 ½”

INSTRUCTIONS

• Cut Card Base Basic White Thick 8” x 5 ½”, score at 2” and 6”. Notice that this is 8”!
• Cut (2) Designer Series Paper Panels 1 ¾” x 5 ¼” for outside panels. Adhere to outside panels.
• Optionally cut (4) Designer Series Paper Panels 1 ¾” x 5 ¼” for inside panels. Adhere to inside.
• Cut (2) Basic White 4” x 4” squares
  • Score on one diagonal
  • Score on the other diagonal
  • Score straight down the middle in one direction only
  • Tip:  Don’t burnish the score lines yet.
• NOTE:  Set the two squares aside, and as you cut the triangle shapes place them on each section if you want the patterns to match up.
• Cut (2) Designer Series Paper 3 ¾” Squares for the Triangles. NOTE: Follow the same pattern for cutting as you did for scoring.
  • Square 1 : Cut on the diagonal. 
  • Take one large triangle and cut it in half from tip to center of straight edge.
  • Take one of those halves and further cut it in half from top to center of straight edge. Place pieces loosely on Basic White square.
  • Take next large triangle and cut it in half from tip to center of straight edge
  • Take one of those halves and further cut it in half from top to center of straight edge. Place pieces on Basic White square.
  • Square 2: Repeat as above
• Tip: For an easier option, make the explosion squares out of DSP and skip the triangles decoration.
• Tip: If you want the patterns to match up between sections, you will really need to watch your cutting.
• Tip: If you alternate patterns, such as flowers and gingham, it’s a lot less confusing to cut the triangles.
• Adhere the DSP pieces to the Basic White square pieces, making sure NOT to let paper go over any of the score lines. Burnish the score lines after adhering the DSP.
• Adhere the first explosion square to the far left edge first. Then adhere it on the right.
• Adhere the second explosion square by lining up the two squares in the center. Adhere it on the left, then adhere it on the right.
• Open and close your card multiple times and say oooohhhhh and ahhhhh, because it is so cool!
• (2) Die-Cut Blueberry Bushel from ~ 2 ½” Stylish Shapes squares
• (2) Die-Cut Basic White from ~ 2” Stylish Shapes squares
• Stamp or decorate one of the Basic White Stylish Shape squares, and adhere it to the Blueberry Bushel square. Adhere this to the center of the two explosion squares as a diamond shape.
• Open and close your card multiple times and say oooohhhhh and ahhhhh, because it is so cool!
• Cut Basic White Belly Band 10” x 1 ½”. Fold the Belly Band around the card with rounded curves, and press the edges to score. Adhere the ends together – it doesn’t matter if the seam is in the front or the back. 
• Wrap ribbon around Belly Band and tie a super cute large bow on the left.
• Decorate your second Basic White Stylish Shapes square and adhere it to the Blueberry Bushel square. Attach this to the card front.
