A clean and crisp design highlights the star of the show – this elegant two-toned poinsettia. It’s the perfect holiday card for any recipient, and it’s super fun to make! The Poinsettia suite is so beautiful – every single sheet of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) is exquisite. Here I spotlight the Old Olive toned paper, with a twist of tradition.
- Cut and prepare Horizontal Split Card Base. Cut Very Vanilla Thick Card Stock at 8 ½” x 5 ½”. This will allow you to get two cards out of one piece of card stock. Save half for another card. Cut base further to 5 ½” x 5 ¾”. Cut remaining piece to 5 ½” x 1 ½”.
- Score along the 5 ¾” length at the 1 ½” mark.
- Cut Real Red square at 3 5/8” x 3 5/8”. This 1/8″ red border rounds out the green tone with just the right amount of a traditional touch.
- Cut Very Vanilla square at 3 ½” x 3 ½”.
- Cut two DSP strips at 5 ½” x ¼”.
- Die Cut Large and Small petals from DSP.
- Die Cut Medium petals from Old Olive Card Stock.
- Prepare card elements
- Assemble flower. Adhere Medium petals to Large petals at the center point. Adhere Small petals to Medium petals at the center point. Adhere Sheer Red ribbon bow to center. Use your fingers or bone folder to add a curve to the petals. Your flower is ready.
- Color pearls gently with the blunt end of the So Saffron Blend.
- Center and adhere DSP strip to top panel. Center and adhere DSP strip to bottom panel.
- Adhere Very Vanilla square to Real Red square. Stamp sentiment in Old Olive ink.
- Carefully build panel card. Align bottom panel to bottom of card. Line up square panel so that it is centered to the eye. Carefully adhere to top and bottom panel, watching that the adhesive doesn’t extend beyond where paper meets paper.
- Decorate the outside by adhering the flower to the bottom left of the square panel.
- Adhere colored pearls.
